My Month In Pictures: June 2015

Wow, would you look at that, it’s July already. Where on earth did the last month go? Heck, who am I kidding – we’ve just cycled through the first half of the year!  We’re now one step closer to the finer weather of the year, even if we do still have two months of winter to go.

June was a bit of a mixed bag here at ARR HQ. On the first day of the month I submitted my final assignment ever (!!) and just a few days later, Alexie RicRac was officially allowed to commence trade as a licensed second hand trader (still a lot going on to get this up and running – I’ve been sidelined with a wedding to plan, but it’s getting there!). As such, it’s been pretty quiet on the blog and pictorial front this month, but here’s what happened on Instagram in June, and of course, a round up of what didn’t make it to Instagram!

My Instagram Month: June 2015

All things considered, I was pretty quiet on the internets and social media this month. Sometimes we just need a break, and that’s exactly what June was for me. It was a time of celebrating the end of my undergraduate degree, catching up with family and friends, and making new friends. Needless to say, the internets was not high on my to do list as I basked in the glory of freedom – albeit brief.

Miss Pinup Australia 2015 Victorian State Final

Earlier in June, I went along to the Spiegeltent at Circus Oz to watch the Victorian/South Australian/Western Australian Miss Pinup Australia state final. Before you ask if I’m entering the 2016 contest, I’m still doing my research and figuring out if my physical incapacities will hinder my ability to compete, so the jury’s still out on that one. There is so much preparation that goes into being a competitor in Miss Pinup Australia, and I really and truly tip my hat to each and every woman, and of course the men who compete in the Mr Pinup Australia titles.

Taking Stock of Me

A couple of weeks ago, I saw MumptyStyle’s post on Facebook and knew that, although I too hadn’t been tagged, I wanted to play a part in the Taking Stock blogging tag. I know I don’t share enough about me with you, and today I’m going to give you a bit more of an insight into what makes me me!
I hope you enjoy learning more about me as much as I have had fun answering the prompts.

DIY Natural Home Cleaning Solutions: Part 1A – Kitchen

Weekends over the last little while have been crisp and sunny and have inspired The Mister and I to really get on top of our housework. Saturdays have been spent doing the laundry, washing the dishes (we do these more frequently than just weekly!), tidying up, and other general chores. Throw in the added pressure of completing my degree, our house was sparkle-arkle-arkling! Let’s face it, there’s nothing more satisfying than procrastinating and cleaning your house instead of studying. Okay, maybe wasting time in other ways is also good, but I always feel fabulous once our house is neat and tidy. Tidy home = tidy mind, or something like that.

Vintage Hats on Etsy: Friday Finds #9

For a long time now, I’ve been dreaming of beautiful vintage hats. I don’t have any in my collection as yet, but I hope to rectify that situation sooner rather than later. Whenever I’m shopping in op shops and vintage stores, I am like a moth to the flame with hats. I’ve never found the perfect one to start my collection, but one day I’ll be inspired and fall in love with one and won’t be able to part with it, so I’ll give it a new home.

Male Wedding Attire: What To Wear Wednesday #12

It’s late, I know, I know, but I’ve been running around like a crazy person finishing uni so I didn’t have the time to schedule a post like normal! And then there’s that little wedding thing that’s happening in 80-odd days. I had planned on having today’s post ready but sometimes you just gotta go with the flow because, let’s face it, life isn’t always straight and narrow. No traditional outfit style post this week, but an amazing infographic instead that is chock-a-block full of information addressing that all important dress code… for men! Read on for the first instalment of men’s style here at Alexie RicRac: male wedding attire etiquette.

My Month In Pictures: May 2015

It’s a brand new month, and with a brand new month comes a brand new themed post: My Month In Pictures. Winter Warmers: Friday Finds #8

Brrr, it’s cold in here! I know that seems to be a regular theme over the last few weeks but it really is cold in Victoria. So cold that there was snow in the mountains. In May. May does not ordinarily bring snow but this year it has. As I’m feeling extra cold these days, I thought it would be a good idea to find myself some new winter warmers.

End of Days

Some days I find it ironic that it was a move to Melbourne that triggered my sense of environmentalism: a city with over 4 million people that is expanding at a rate quicker than we can provide infrastructure, jobs, and houses (urban planner reporting for duty). Of course, it was more than just a move to Melbourne that did it, it was also the beginning of my degree in Urban and Regional Planning at RMIT.
